Electric Water Kettles Recalled Due to Burn Hazard from Loosening Handle

ZWILLING J.A. Henckels has recalled approximately 113,440 ENFINIGY electric kettles in the U.S. because the handle can loosen and separate, causing hot water to spill and posing a burn injury risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (scalding water) where serious injury could result (second-degree burn reported). Although only one burn injury has been reported among 163 separation/loosening incidents, the hazard is substantive and documented, meeting the High threshold.

Plain-English summary

ZWILLING J.A. Henckels Aktiengesellschaft is recalling approximately 113,440 ENFINIGY 1.5 l and ENFINIGY Pro 1.5 l electric kettles sold in the U.S. between December 2019 and February 2026. The kettles have stainless-steel construction with colors including black, silver, rose, gold, and pure-white, and carry the "ZWILLING" silk-printed marking.

The kettle's handle can loosen and separate from the kettle body, causing hot contents to spill and posing a risk of serious burn injury. The firm has received 163 reports of the handle separating or loosening, including 5 incident reports, one of which involved a reported second-degree burn.

Affected model numbers are 53101-200, 53101-201 (ENFINIGY 1.5L), and 53101-500, 53101-501, 53101-502, 53101-503, 53101-504 (ENFINIGY Pro 1.5L). These can be found on the bottom of the kettle and power base. The kettles were sold at HomeGoods stores nationwide and online at zwilling.com, typically priced between $120 and $200.
