Aterian Recalls PurSteam Travel and Mighty Lil Steamers for Serious Burn Hazard

Aterian, Inc. is recalling approximately 75,400 PurSteam Elite Travel Steamers (Model PS-510) and approximately 119,000 PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamers (Model PS-550). The recalled steamers can expel hot water from the steam nozzle during normal use, posing a serious burn hazard to consumers.
Between December 2020 and 2024, Aterian received 80 reports of hot water expulsion from the PS-510 model, including 14 reports of burn injuries. For the PS-550 model, Aterian received 392 reports of hot water expulsion, including 40 reports of burn injuries, two of which were documented as second-degree burns. Additional incident reports exist from before Aterian's acquisition of the PurSteam product line in December 2020.
The affected steamers were sold online at Pursteam.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com. The PS-510 was sold from December 2020 through April 2025 for between $15 and $35. The PS-550 was sold from December 2020 through January 2024 for between $11 and $30. The recall affects units with date codes 2310, 2308, 2305, 2304, 2303, 2212, 2211, 2210, 2203, 2112, 2111, 2110, 0221, 1019, and 4619, or purchased after December 2020.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled steamers. To receive a refund, customers must visit recall.pursteam.com and submit a recall request, providing contact information and a photo of the steamer with its cord cut. Some consumers may be asked to return their steamer with a prepaid shipping label.
