Watkins Manufacturing Recalls Highlife Collection Spa Jets Due to Drowning Hazard
Watkins Manufacturing is recalling Hydromassage rotary jets in Highlife Collection spas because they can create suction that entangles user hair and submerges the head, posing a drowning hazard. About 32,900 units are affected.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This meets the High severity criterion as a risk-of-harm product presenting a drowning hazard from suction-induced entanglement where no injuries have been reported. One entanglement incident occurred but caused no injury. No deaths or hospitalizations were reported.
Plain-English summary
Watkins Manufacturing Corporation is recalling Hydromassage rotary jets (6 fin) found in Highlife Collection spas. The recalled jets are installed in eight spa models: Grandee, Envoy, Vanguard, Aria, Prodigy, Sovereign, Jetsetter, and Jetsetter LX manufactured in model years 2023, 2024, and 2025. Approximately 32,900 units were sold nationwide through independent pool and spa dealers between October 2022 and September 2025, with prices ranging from $16,000 to $24,000 for complete spas and $18 to $35 for replacement parts.
The recalled jets can create a suction force that may entangle a user's hair, potentially submerging their head underwater. This creates both an entanglement hazard and a risk of drowning. The manufacturer has received one report of a consumer whose hair became entangled in the jets; however, no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled jets. To determine if your spa contains the recalled parts, visit http://www.hotspring.com/recalls. If your spa is affected, contact Watkins Manufacturing to obtain instructions and a video demonstrating how to turn off the recalled jets and install free replacement jet inserts. You will need the serial number located on the front of your spa.
