The Recall Desk

Privacy policy

Privacy policy

The Recall Desk is an independent reference site. We don’t sell ads, we don’t take affiliate commissions, and we don’t have a meaningful incentive to track or profile readers. This page documents exactly what we collect and what we do with it.

What we don’t do

  • No advertising network. No Google Ads, no programmatic ads, no sponsored content.
  • No affiliate links or commerce kickbacks.
  • No third-party tracking scripts (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, Hotjar, FullStory, etc.).
  • No web-beacon pixels in emails.
  • No social-network “like” or share buttons that load third-party JavaScript.
  • No fingerprinting libraries, no behavioural profiling, no shadow profiles.
  • We don’t sell, rent, or share any user data with any third party.

What we collect when you browse

Browsing the public site is anonymous from our perspective. Our hosting infrastructure logs standard HTTP-request data (IP address, user agent, referrer, requested URL, response code) for short-term operational purposes — diagnosing outages, understanding load patterns, identifying abusive scrapers. We don’t correlate those logs with anyone’s identity, and we don’t retain them past 30 days.

What we collect when you subscribe to alerts

If you sign up for email alerts, we store your email address along with the alert filters you chose (agency, category, severity threshold, product keyword, vehicle make, US state) and your selected frequency (immediate, daily, weekly).

We use double opt-in — a confirmation link goes to your inbox and you click it to confirm. Your address is marked unconfirmed until you click. We don’t send unsolicited mail.

Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link in both the body and the email header (RFC 8058 compliant), so Gmail, Outlook, and other clients can remove you with a single click. Unsubscribed addresses are deleted from our active list within 24 hours.

Who handles email delivery

We send email through Resend (resend.com), a US-based transactional email provider. Resend stores email metadata (recipient, delivery status, bounce/complaint signals) for deliverability monitoring under their own privacy policy. They don’t use that data for advertising or third-party sharing.

Cookies

We don’t set any first-party cookies for tracking. The site uses a single session cookie when admins log in to the internal review panel; you’ll never encounter that cookie as a public reader.

Your rights

If we have your email address on file (because you subscribed to alerts), you can:

  • Unsubscribe with one click from any email we send you.
  • Request that we delete your address entirely by replying to any alert email or contacting us directly.
  • Update your alert filters by re-submitting the signup form with the same email address.

We honor verifiable requests under the EU GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA. Because we collect so little data, there’s usually very little to act on — but we’ll confirm any deletion in writing.

Children’s privacy

The site is intended for general audiences. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has subscribed to our alert list, contact us and we’ll remove the address.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects subscribers, we’ll email everyone on the alert list with advance notice. The “last reviewed” date at the foot of this page tracks every revision.
