Luyuan Youth ATVs Recalled for Crash Hazard and Safety Standard Violation
Luyuan Inc. is recalling about 6,800 youth all-terrain vehicles sold from August 2018 through August 2020 because they fail to comply with federal ATV safety standards, including maximum speed limitations required for children under 10.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source text explicitly states no injuries or deaths have been reported. However, the ATVs fail to meet mandatory federal safety standards for children under 10 and pose a risk of serious injury or death. This qualifies as a high-risk product where injury has not yet been reported, meeting the High (3) threshold per the rubric.
Plain-English summary
Luyuan Inc., of City of Industry, California, is recalling approximately 6,800 Luyuan youth all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) with model numbers LY-ATV-40A, LY-ATV-40D, LY-ATV-40E, and LY-ATV-40I. The recalled ATVs were sold from August 2018 through August 2020 for between $450 and $550.
The youth ATVs fail to comply with the requirements of the federal mandatory ATV safety standard, including maximum speed limitations and other mandatory safety requirements for vehicles intended for children under 10 years of age. ATVs that fail to meet these mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury or death to children. No injuries or deaths have been reported to date.
The recalled ATVs were sold through Luyuan dealers nationwide, including Tool Store Go-Kart Shop, ATV Distributors, Four Seasons Power Sports, Mefast Wholesale, Toomey Tools, Steward Auto, A&S Auto, and Bounce it Off Motorsports, Go-bowen, Powersportsmax, and Smokers Alley 2. The ATVs were also sold online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, FamilyGoKarts.com, BigToysGreenCountry.com, Bigtoysusa.com, and SaferWholesale.com. Some ATVs were sold with GBMOTO or GoBowen branding.
