CRT Motor Youth All-Terrain Vehicles Recalled for Crash Hazard
CRT Motor is recalling about 100 youth ATVs sold at Motorsports Planet because they do not meet mandatory safety requirements and can exceed maximum speed, increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a risk-of-harm product (ATV designed for children) where a structural defect creates serious injury risk through speed exceeding safety limits and lacerating handlebars. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is substantial and the product is inherently high-risk for the intended user population, placing it at High severity.
Plain-English summary
CRT Motor Inc. is recalling approximately 100 youth all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), models DF125AVA and DF125AVB. The vehicles were sold at Motorsports Planet stores nationwide from April 2021 through August 2021 for about $200 each.
The ATVs do not meet mandatory federal safety requirements. Children can operate the vehicles above the maximum allowed speed, increasing the risk of crashes that can cause serious injuries. Additionally, the handlebars pose a laceration hazard if a child rider's body or head impacts them at high speed during a crash.
No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the recalled ATVs immediately and contact CRT Motor for instructions on how to receive a full refund. CRT Motor can be reached collect at 626-822-1129 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or online at www.crtmoto.com/recall or www.crtmoto.com by clicking "Recall" at the top of the page.
