Yamaha Off-Road Motorcycles Recalled for Crash Hazard
Yamaha is recalling about 760 off-road motorcycles because the gear shift assembly can detach from the crankcase, causing unintentional gear shifting and posing a crash hazard. No injuries have been reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural defect (detachable gear shift assembly) that poses a direct crash hazard on a vehicle. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is concrete and the risk of harm is significant for a competition motorcycle. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported score at most 3 (High).
