What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recalled product poses a risk of serious injury or death due to violation of mandatory federal safety standards; however, the source explicitly states no injuries or deaths have been reported. This meets the "High" criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Ricky Powersports LLC is recalling approximately 570 Ricky Powersports RPS Youth BF-ATV125E 125cc ATVs. The ATVs were sold in multiple colors including burgundy, purple camo, red spider, blue, black, blue spider, black spider, pink camo, leaf camo, and army green camo. These vehicles are intended for use by children ages 10 years and older.
The recalled ATVs fail to comply with mandatory federal ATV safety standards. Specifically, they do not meet parking brake requirements, creating a collision hazard if the vehicle is parked on an incline. The ATVs also lack required safety features for children's ATVs, including improper labeling and missing safety reflectors. ATVs that fail to meet these mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury or death.
The recalled ATVs were sold from March 2021 through August 2021 by Ricky Powersports dealers nationwide, including Bargain ATVs, Trackside Powersports, Winner's Circle Inc., Luca Motorsports, Little Power Sports, Permian Basin Power Sports & More, Texan Powersports & Electronics, Hawg Powersports 1, Charlie and Son Inc., J.L Motor, MSA Powersports, PowersportsMax, Triple J Imports, and CoolsterATVParts, as well as online at www.360powersports.com, www.wackywest.com, and www.rickypowersports.net. The vehicles were priced between $660 and $1,100.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact Ricky Powersports for a free repair from an authorized repair shop.
