Polaris Sportsman ATVs Recalled for Fire and Brake Loss Hazards

What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall meets CPSC criteria for Severe (score 4) because it involves a structural vehicle defect with reported property damage and injury risk—five fire incidents have been reported, and two of those fires involved loss of front brake function, creating a significant crash hazard.
Plain-English summary
Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling about 80,000 model years 2021–2023 Sportsman 450 and 570 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from May 2019 through November 2022. The ATVs were sold in multiple colors including green, blue, red, black, white, camouflage, and orange.
An improperly assembled wiring harness can contact the brake line and/or vehicle frame during use. This contact can result in a loss of front brake function and/or fire, posing both fire and crash hazards. Polaris has received five reports of fire and three reports of damaged wires. Of the five fire reports, two also indicated a loss of front brake function.
