Polaris RZR Recreational Off-Road Vehicles Recalled for Crash Hazard
Polaris is recalling certain 2023 and 2024 RZR recreational off-road vehicles because an improperly routed brake line can contact the front wheels, causing brake loss and crashes. Consumers should immediately stop using the vehicles and contact a Polaris dealer for a free inspection and repair.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where brake system failure can cause crashes. Although no injuries have been reported, the hazard is serious and confirmed through three field reports of actual brake-line damage and brake loss, meeting the criterion for a high-severity rating despite the absence of reported injuries.
Plain-English summary
Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 2,500 Model Year 2023 RZR PRO XP and PRO XP 4 recreational off-road vehicles (ROVs) and Model Year 2024 RZR XP and XP 4 ROVs. The recalled vehicles were sold by authorized Polaris dealers nationwide from January 2023 through August 2023.
The brake line in the recalled vehicles can be routed improperly, allowing it to contact the front wheels during vehicle operation. This contact can damage the brake line and result in a loss of brakes, creating a crash hazard. The firm has received three reports of the brake line being incorrectly installed and causing brake loss, including one report involving a vehicle hitting a large rock. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles. To obtain a repair, consumers should contact a Polaris authorized dealer to schedule a free inspection. If the brake-line routing is incorrect, the dealer will repair the unit at no cost. Polaris has notified consumers to stop riding the vehicles and is contacting registered owners directly.
Consumers can contact Polaris at 800-765-2747 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit www.polaris.com and click on "Off Road Safety Recalls" or go to https://www.polaris.com/en-us/off-road-recalls/ to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) against the recall list.
