Thor Motor Coach motorhomes recalled for faulty rear axle differential

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2020-2021 motorhomes due to insufficient rear axle differential fluid that could cause driveshaft separation and loss of vehicle drive, increasing crash risk.

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2020 Chateau, Quantum, Vegas, and Axis motorhomes, as well as 2020-2021 Four Winds motorhomes built on Ford chassis. The affected vehicles may have insufficient rear axle differential fluid. Approximately 22 vehicles are potentially affected.

Due to the insufficient fluid level, the rear axle assembly may fail and the driveshaft may separate from the vehicle. If the driveshaft separates, the vehicle will lose drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not engaged, the vehicle may move unintentionally if left in Park, further increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Ford and Thor Motor Coach dealers will inspect the rear axle differential fluid level and adjust it or replace the entire rear axle assembly if necessary, free of charge. The recall remedy began May 22, 2020. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Thor Motor Coach customer service at 1-877-855-2867 (TMC recall number RC000188).
