The die cast pedal plate may break at one of its attachment points, which can cause the brake pedal to dislodge. If the brake pedal dislodges, it becomes inoperable, eliminating the vehicle's braking capability. The affected vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 (Air Brake Systems).

A dislodged brake pedal increases the risk of a crash. Owners should contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-458-1552 to schedule an inspection and replacement of the pedal plates at no cost.
