2022 Forest River Aurora travel trailers recalled for furnace cooktop fire risk
Forest River is recalling 2021-2022 Aurora and Catalina travel trailers because the panel sealing the cooktop from the furnace was not properly sealed, which could cause an inverted flame and fire risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fire risk from an appliance defect in travel trailers. While no injuries or fires have been reported, the potential consequence of fire is serious, meeting the criterion for High severity: risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2021 and 2022 Coachmen Catalina and Forest River Aurora travel trailers due to a manufacturing defect. The panel that isolates the cooktop from the furnace was not properly sealed during manufacturing.
An improperly sealed panel can allow an inverted cooktop flame. This increases the risk of fire within the travel trailer. No injuries or fires have been reported to date.
Owners are entitled to a free repair at an authorized Forest River dealer, where the furnace will be properly sealed from the cooktop. Forest River mailed notification letters to owners on February 1, 2022. For additional information, owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8657 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
