BMW iX and i4 Warning Display May Fail in Valet Parking Mode
BMW is recalling 2022–2023 iX and 2022 i4 vehicles because their central display may fail to show critical safety warnings while in Valet Parking Mode. This can increase crash risk.
What this means for you

Plain-English summary
BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2022 and 2023 BMW iX and 2022 BMW i4 vehicles. The affected models include the iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50, iX M60, i4 eDrive40, and i4 M50.
While in Valet Parking Mode, the Central Information Display (CID) may not display critical safety information, including warning messages and warning lights. This prevents drivers from receiving important safety notifications.
The recall addresses a failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101 (Control and Displays). When the display does not show critical information such as warning messages and lights, it increases the risk of a crash.
Owners should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a free software update to the display's head unit. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 6, 2022. For additional information, owners can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
