Freightliner commercial trucks recalled for drag link separation defect

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC is recalling certain 2019-2021 Freightliner commercial trucks, including the 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, Columbia, Coronado, and Business Class M2 models, as well as 2020 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The drag link taper joint may not have been sufficiently tightened during manufacturing and could come loose, potentially separating completely from the steering arm.

If the drag link separates from the steering arm, the affected vehicle would experience complete loss of steering control. This creates a significant risk of crashes. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 21, 2023.

Approximately 60,604 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owners should contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to schedule an inspection and repair. Daimler Trucks will inspect the drag link taper joint and repair it as necessary, free of charge. This recall expands upon recall number 21V-689.
