Volkswagen Recalls 2024 Atlas Cross Sport for Engine Bearing Defect

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles. The engine connecting rod bearings in these vehicles may become damaged.
When the bearings are damaged, the engine can fail and cause the vehicle to stall while driving. A stalled engine increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, engine failure may cause an oil leak, which can increase the risk of a fire.
An estimated 2,018 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 28, 2023. Affected owners should contact Volkswagen's customer service at 1-800-893-5298 to schedule service, or contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236. Dealers will inspect and replace the engine if necessary, at no cost to the owner.
