What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural/electrical vehicle defect affecting the propulsion system that can result in complete loss of drive power and increased crash risk, meeting the rubric criterion for severe vehicle defects. Although no injuries have been reported to date, the hazard creates significant risk of harm.

Plain-English summary

Lucid USA, Inc. is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Air Pure rear wheel drive vehicles. The rear subframe wiring harness may be too short, straining the electrical connection to the rear drive unit.

When the electrical connection is strained, power can be lost to the rear drive unit, resulting in complete loss of drive power to the vehicle. This increases the risk of a crash.

Approximately 1,539 vehicles are affected. Lucid notified owners by mail beginning December 18, 2024. Owners should contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243 to arrange the replacement at no charge. Additional information is available through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 or nhtsa.gov.
