What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Brake system structural defect with serious potential consequences including brake failure and wheel detachment. No injuries or deaths reported; per rubric, uninjured structural defects with theoretical hazards cap at score 3.

Plain-English summary

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2025 Lexus NX vehicles due to loose bolts in the front brake caliper mounting bracket and wheel hub bearing assembly. These bolts may not be tightened adequately.

Loose bolts can damage the front brake caliper's brake hose or allow the wheel to detach from the vehicle. A damaged brake hose results in brake fluid leakage, which reduces brake performance and increases the distance needed to stop. Wheel detachment causes loss of vehicle control. Either condition increases the crash risk.

Owners were notified by mail on January 23, 2025. Toyota will inspect and tighten the bolts at no charge; any damaged components will also be replaced at no cost. Contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
