What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The rubric sets a floor of 4 for any USDA Class I recall, and FSIS classified this one Class I; the hazard is not theoretical because a consumer found a metal piece in cooked product, though no injuries have been confirmed.
Plain-English summary
Ukrop's Homestyle Foods, a Richmond, Virginia establishment, is recalling approximately 22,880 pounds of baked spaghetti and chicken cobbler products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal slivers. FSIS has classified the recall as Class I.
The items were produced from July 1, 2026 through July 29, 2026 and carry BEST BY dates from 07/08/26 through 08/05/26. The recall covers 62.4-oz aluminium pans of "Ukrop's Baked Spaghetti - Bulk" and 14.8-oz cardboard trays of "Ukrop's Baked Spaghetti", both bearing establishment number "EST. 19979"; and 48-oz aluminium pans of "Ukrop's Chicken Cobbler - Bulk" and 11.6-oz cardboard trays of "Ukrop's Chicken Cobbler", both bearing "P-19979". The products were shipped to retail locations in North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, to the Department of Defense, and sold online.
The problem was discovered after the establishment received a consumer complaint about a metal piece found in a fully cooked product. There have been no confirmed reports of injuries from consuming these products.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. If you have these products, do not eat them — throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider.
