Plain-English summary
Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2021 motorhomes built on Sprinter Van chassis with swivel front seats, including Coachmen Prism and Galleria models, Forest River Forester and Sunseeker models, and Dynamax Isata models. The wiring harnesses for the front seats may have been routed incorrectly, causing them to become jammed or damaged within the swivel seat frames.
If the wiring harness is damaged, the side air bag system within the seat may fail to function as designed. The air bag could deploy inadvertently in a crash when not needed, or it could fail to deploy when protection is required, both of which increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
The remedy includes notification to owners and inspection of the wiring harness routing for both front seats by Sprinter dealers. If needed, dealers will repair the wiring and add clips or cable ties to prevent jamming, at no cost to the owner. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Daimler Vans customer service at 1-877-762-8267 (Daimler Vans recall number VS3DREHSIK) or Forest River directly (recall number 51-1206).
Owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov for additional information.
