International LoneStar and LT battery cable defect increases crash risk

Navistar is recalling certain 2017-2021 International LoneStar and LT vehicles because the battery ground cable may break, causing unintended engine shutdown and increasing the risk of a crash.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The defect poses a clear risk of harm—battery ground cable breakage causes unintended engine shutdown, increasing crash risk. No injuries or deaths are reported in the source. This fits the criterion for Score 3: risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary
