What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2022 Coachmen Apex travel trailers. The tail lights in these units may have been incorrectly wired to an ON/OFF switch, which can cause the brake or tail lights to not illuminate when the switch is in the off position.

When brake or tail lights fail to illuminate, visibility to other drivers is reduced, which increases the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-358-0401 (Forest River recall number 220-1535) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Dealers will rewire the tail lights free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 9, 2022.
