Jayco Terrain and Melbourne motorhomes recalled for parking pawl failure

Certain 2019-2023 Jayco and Entegra motorhomes are recalled because the parking pawl may fail to engage, risking unintended vehicle rollaway and collision.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle defect affecting the parking mechanism. A parking pawl failure that prevents the vehicle from staying in park can cause unintended vehicle rollaway, significantly increasing the risk of crashes, which qualifies as a Severe (Score 4) recall.

Plain-English summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling certain 2019-2023 motorhomes, including the Jayco Terrain, Melbourne, Melbourne Prestige, and Entegra Launch, Launch LE, and Qwest models. The affected vehicles have a guide bushing on the parking pawl that may fatigue over time.

The fatigued guide bushing can prevent the parking pawl from engaging properly. When the parking pawl fails to engage, the vehicle may roll away unintentionally, increasing the risk of crashes and collisions.

Owners should contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267 to schedule a free software update for the electronic stability control, transmission control, direct select module, and electronic ignition switch control units. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 8, 2023.
