2022-2023 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana transmission software defect

General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2022-2023 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles due to incorrect software in the transmission control module (TCM). This defect may result in harsh shifting, reduced power, unintended deceleration, rear wheel lockup, or cause the vehicle to move in an unintended direction.
Rear wheel lockup or unintended vehicle movement can increase the risk of a crash. Approximately 77,824 vehicles are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 9, 2024.
The remedy is a free software update. Owners should contact GM customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC at 1-800-462-8782 to schedule the update. Dealers will update the transmission control module software calibration free of charge. The GM recall number is N242471620.
