Plain-English summary
Daimler Vans USA, LLC is recalling certain Mercedes-Benz Metris vehicles from model years 2020, 2022, and 2023. These right-hand-drive vehicles have an air bag control unit susceptible to water accumulation, which can prevent the air bags from deploying as intended during a crash.
Water accumulating on the air bag control unit can cause the restraint system to malfunction. This defect increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants in the event of a crash, as the air bags may not deploy when needed.
Approximately 52,360 vehicles are affected. Owners received notification letters beginning April 10, 2026. The remedy consists of installing a cover on the air bag control unit, which dealers will perform at no charge. Vehicle owners can contact Daimler Vans USA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 or reference recall number VS2KORSRS when scheduling service. VINs for affected vehicles are searchable on NHTSA.gov.
