Winnebago Ekko touchscreens may start the generator without operator knowledge

Winnebago is recalling certain Ekko motorhomes because the touchscreen may register phantom inputs and start the generator unknowingly, creating a carbon monoxide risk in enclosed spaces.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The manufacturer instructs owners to park outside until repair, an interim use restriction that marks the hazard as immediate; no death or injury is reported, so it does not escalate to Critical.

Plain-English summary

Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2027 Ekko motorhomes. The campaign covers 1,537 vehicles.

The touchscreen display may register unintended or phantom inputs and turn on the generator without the operator's knowledge. People in an enclosed space, such as a garage, with a running generator may be at an increased risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The recall applies to owners and operators of the affected model years. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on 18 June 2026.

Owners are advised to park outside until the repair has been performed. Winnebago will release an over-the-air software update free of charge. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885, quoting recall number 205.
