Motorhome tire valve stem may lose pressure, increasing crash risk

Jayco and Entegra motorhomes from 2018–2023 may have defective tire valve stem extensions that contact the wheel rim, causing damage and potential tire pressure loss that increases crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This is a tire valve stem defect that increases crash risk if tire pressure is lost, but the source explicitly does not report any injuries or deaths. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported score 3 (High).

Plain-English summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling certain 2018–2023 Jayco Seneca, Seneca Prestige, and Entegra Accolade motorhomes. The tire valve stem extension for the inner wheel may contact the outer wheel rim opening and become damaged.

Damage to the valve stem extension may result in loss of tire pressure in the inner wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Daimler Trucks North America will remove the inner valve stem extension and stabilizer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2022. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
