Commercial trucks recalled for faulty steering gear assemblies
PACCAR Incorporated is recalling certain 2022–2023 Peterbilt and Kenworth commercial trucks due to incorrectly assembled steering gears that may fracture. A fractured steering gear can cause loss of steering control, increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle defect affecting critical steering control. While the hazard is real and could lead to serious consequences including crashes, no injuries or deaths have been reported, placing it in the 'High' (3) category per the rubric criterion for 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.'
