Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020-2022 Ford Escape and 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. These vehicles were previously repaired incorrectly under recall campaigns 22V-859 or 24V-187.
The affected vehicles may have a fuel injector that can crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source—such as a hot engine or exhaust components—can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy is a free software update to the powertrain control module (PCM), which dealers will install at no charge. Owners were notified by mail on April 22, 2025. Approximately 33,576 vehicles are affected.
Owners should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) for more information.
