Plain-English summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2023-2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles. These vehicles may fail to produce sufficient pedestrian warning sounds when in reverse, which violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141, the minimum sound requirement for hybrid and electric vehicles.
The affected vehicles include model years 2023, 2024, and 2025. Approximately 73,528 vehicles are involved. Insufficient pedestrian warning sounds may fail to adequately alert pedestrians of a reversing vehicle, increasing the risk of pedestrian injury.
Toyota dealers will provide a free software update to address the issue. Interim notification letters were sent to owners on June 2, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners should contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 or reference Toyota recall numbers 26TB08 and 26TA08 for more information.
