2025 Nissan Kicks: Certification labels with incorrect weight and tire ratings
Certain 2025 Nissan Kicks vehicles have certification labels with incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Rating values, which could lead to vehicle overloading and crash risk. Some SR trim vehicles with an optional 19-inch wheel package also have incorrect tire size information.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves safety-critical weight and tire specifications on certification labels. Incorrect values could enable vehicle overloading or improper tire inflation, both of which increase crash risk. Although no injuries have been reported, this qualifies as a risk-of-harm situation where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Certain 2025 Nissan Kicks vehicles have certification labels printed with incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) values. Additionally, certain 2025 Nissan Kicks SR trim vehicles equipped with an optional 19-inch wheel package have certification labels with an incorrect wheel size. These labeling errors violate federal motor vehicle safety standards.
Incorrect weight ratings on a vehicle's certification label can lead owners to overload their vehicle, exceeding its design capacity. Incorrect tire and wheel size information can result in improper tire inflation. Both conditions increase the risk of a crash. Approximately 37,003 vehicles may be affected by this recall.
Nissan will replace the incorrect labels at no charge. Dealers will install new labels and mail replacement labels to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2025. Owners should contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261 to schedule label replacement. For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or visit nhtsa.gov.
