What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect—improperly bonded windshields that may detach during a crash. Although no injuries have been reported, the risk of serious occupant injury in a crash makes this a significant safety hazard that meets the Severe classification criteria.
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 21,258 vehicles from model years 2020 and 2021, including Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300. During manufacturing, the windshields may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle body, creating a potential safety hazard.
A windshield that is not properly bonded may separate from the vehicle during a crash. If a windshield detaches, it can increase the risk of injury to occupants. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 212, which establishes requirements for windshield mounting.
Owners affected by this recall will receive notification letters. Dealers will repair the vehicles at no cost by removing and replacing the front windshield urethane sealant. Owners can contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for more information. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is also available at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
